How to Make Your Clients Feel Special

Nearly every client is the same in one way: they want to feel different from every other client. Making all of your clients feel unique is quite a task, but it can be done in just a couple of easy steps.

Give Something Away

I'm not saying you have to create a whole new business card for every client with no charge. Just give away a small "favor" that you think will make you more memorable. For example, I have recently acquired a new client. She was really not feeling great about setting up a Facebook page. I thought it would be great to make the process easier for her, so I slightly modified the logo she bought from me to fit as a profile picture. She loved it so much that she has already told ten of her friends. She even left a glorious testimonial about how great it was that I would go out of my way to do that.

Ask Questions

No client likes to be left in the dark when it comes to their design. When I design a website, I don't make everything lead up to a big reveal, rather, I keep my client in the loop from the very first draft. You're probably thinking, "Why on earth should I let my client decide? He/she knows nothing about design!" I'll let you in on a secret: you only let the client think they are making the decision. For example, don't ask a question about "what color", provide two or three good-looking options that they can choose from.
